Nutrition Coaching

Good nutrition is important to maintain and optimize your health. The food we eat fuels our bodies and provides essential nutrients the body needs in order to maintain our bones, muscles, skin, nerves, blood circulation and immune system. Properly fueling our bodies with nutritious foods also helps our bodies prevent chronic inflammation and illnesses like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and cancers.

With all of the fad diets, crash diets, and conflicting information available about nutrition, it can be overwhelming. A nutrition coach can work with you in order to create lasting, sustainable habits to achieve a balanced diet that fits your likes and lifestyle. Perhaps you want to lose weight, decrease inflammation or improve your overall health. Maybe you’ve got a busy family and need help to create delicious and nutritious meals that please everyone, even if not all of your family members have the same dietary preferences. Nutrition coaching offers strategies that are personally tailored to fit your needs and achieve your goals.

Nutrition Coaching FAQ’s

What are Kat’s Credentials?

Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics, Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Post Graduate Certificate in Exercise Science and Lifestyle Management, Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach

When I purchase a package or nutrition coaching, what should I expect?

Anyone seeking nutrition coaching will undergo the initial consultation/assesment which will take about an hour.  In this assessment, the coach will go over your health history, gather information about you, your goals, what you’ve done before, what has worked for you, and what hasn’t.  Baseline measurements may or may not be taken, based on your own personal goals.  Generally, you will leave the initial assessment with some homework to work on and  schedule a follow-up appointment the following week.  At your second appointment, you will go over the findings from your initial visit, as well as receive customized material tailored to you.  E-mail support/online support is always available between appointments.

Can the nutrition coach work with my specific condition/illness/syndrome etc. (i.e. Diabetes, Crohn’s, Colitis, IBS?

In short, yes, however, it is best to talk directly with Kat about your specific condition to best meet your needs.  Nutrition coaching can still provide useful tools, and help build healthy habits to meet your goals, however, can not be used to ‘cure’ or ‘treat’ any such condition.

What if I change my mind? Are the packages refundable?

Any unused portion of the package can be refunded, however, refunds for time already spent will not be issued.

Can a nutrition coach work with my diet? (i.e. Vegan, Keto, WFPB, etc.)

Yes!  Every plan is tailored to you specifically and the foods you enjoy!

Is this a meal plan?

No.  The nutrition coach can work with you to help you create a meal plan that works for you but does not prescribe a set meal plan.  Why? We want coaching to be effective, and allow for long term habits and lifestyle change, this means it needs to work for YOU and your lifestyle.  Meal plans are often rigid in nature, and, like most diets, are often not sustainable long term.

How much weight should I expect to lose per week if I am seeking weight loss?

A moderate, sustainable amount of weight can be expected to lose each week, between 0.5lbs to 2.5lbs of body weight.  Losing weight too quickly can result in loss of muscle mass rather than body fat and can damage metabolism.  Nutrition coaching doesn’t aim to drastically drop weight quickly, and everyone loses weight at different rates.
